T and C Lindenberg Coominya...Queensland...Australia Babetal Miniature Schnauzers was established in 1988 with the purchase of a little Miniature Schnauzer Bitch from Vabec Kennels. Her name was Vabec Babette and hence our Kennel Prefix - Babetal. Babette was purchased for breeding and also for Show and Obedience. For 5 years we tried unsuccessfully to get a mating with her. Looking back over this frustrating time I feel it was “meant to be”. It was certainly “Character Building". Over those 5 years I learnt a great deal and collected a large number of pedigrees both good and bad. There are many who breed without a real knowledge of the Breed Standard or the dogs which appear in the background of their breeding stock. Here at Babetal we endeavour to breed for our pleasure, dogs which meet the Breed Standard, are healthy and free of genetic defects. Most of our dogs have been shown. This gives us the opportunity to obtain judges opinions and compare our dogs with others of the breed. It is too easy for people to sit back with their dogs and say that they are “just breeding for pets”. Often those pets in turn will be bred “Just for Pets” until what is produced little resembles the breed, which we love and desire. A “Pet” should be those puppies in the litter that a breeder does not require to maintain their stock for show or breeding. At this time I would like to thank Ms Berryl McCallum for selling us our foundation bitch Australian Champion Tyaldra Carostar (Carrie). Carrie was sent to selected dogs, which helped us build our gene pool with which to work. Also Ms Sheila Walker & Ms Muriel Brown of Vabec for their support and knowledge which has been so freely given.
